The ancient art of Trug making creates baskets which are individual hand made treasures.
They are very light and yet hard wearing and strong. These baskets give their owner years of enjoyment and practical service.
Their shape and balance is exactly right for collecting fruit and vegetables from the garden.
The larger Devon Maunds
were originally used as a basket for gathering and storing produce over winter such as potatoes and onions. The generous size of the Maund makes it ideal for use at home harvest time for fruits and vegetables and as a beautiful display and storage basket in the home.
Both baskets are made of wooden slats which are shaped and shaved with traditional hand tools, then steamed and attached with copper nails to a steamed and moulded rim and handle. The base of the basket is bound with copper.
Made in Golden Bay, NZ.
